The Zambia University-College of Technology (ZUT) is a Government owned higher learning institution established by Statutory Instrument No. 39 of 2022. The institution has continued to record growth in various areas of operation. The University-College is based in Ndola, and offers locally and internationally accredited professional and academic programmes, and a range of other products and services, such as skills training, consultancy and software development. 1. Driver – Permanent Contract (1 Position) – Salary Scale ZUT 9.
Job Purpose: To provide safe and efficient transportation services to staff, students, and visitors of the institution. The job holder ensures the maintenance and upkeep of assigned vehicles, adheres to traffic regulations, and provides excellent customer service.
Minimum Qualifications
- Full Grade 12 Certificate with at least 5 ‘O’ levels including English and Mathematics.
- PSV SADC Drivers’ License – CE Class
- Certificate in automotive mechanics added advantage.
- At least two (2) years’ relevant work experience.
Key Responsibilities for the position
- Perform work in the operation of the vehicle to ensure safe transportation of members of staff, students and visitors to and from various destinations;
- Vehicle is well maintained, washing it/cleaning it and ensure it is mechanically sound;
- Ensure log book is completed as per requirement;
- Carry out routine checks on the vehicles before starting off – tyre pressure, fuel levels, engine fluids etc. Make requests as needed. Schedule regular car service appointments and report any issues.
- Assisting people getting in and out of the car with luggage where necessary; Assist with loading and unloading.
- Do simple repairs and maintenance of vehicles – completing preventive maintenance check list i.e. tyre rotation and changes, etc.
- Maintains vehicles in functional condition by listening to complaints, conducting inspections, and mechanical systems malfunctions and replacing parts and components. Request repairs as necessary;
- Verifying vehicle serviceability;
- Maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs
- Keep supplies ready by inventory stocks, placing orders/requisitions and verifying receipts
- Ensure vehicle has enough fuel at all-time/ or request as needed
- Any other duties that maybe assigned

- Ability to follow regulations.
- Courteous, respectful and cautious.
- Sober character.
- Humble and reliable.
- Knowledge of motor mechanics.
- Ability to write good reports.
