Danish Red Cross (DRC) is looking for someone with vision, resilience, and passion for humanitarian work, to lead DRC’s contribution to responding to the needs in Sudan and to building disaster risk management capacities with the Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS). Purpose of the role The primary objective of the DRM Programme Delegate is to provide quality guidance and support to SRCS in managing DRC-supported programmes and response operations, with a particular focus on strengthening SRCS disaster risk management capacities. You will work closely with SRCS teams to design and implement the programme across various states in Sudan, while ensuring effective coordination between SRCS and other Red Cross Red Crescent Movement Partner National Societies. Additionally, you will oversee the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of specific projects under your charge. Key Responsibilities Provide operational support and guidance to SRCS on disaster management and on emergency preparedness, response, and recovery, with a particular focus on cash and voucher assistance (CVA) as the preferred response modality, as well as strengthening both institutional and community‑based preparedness to ensure rapid, flexible, and dignified assistance to affected populations. Collaborate with SRCS staff to develop conflict‑sensitive project concepts and spearhead the preparation of evidence‑based proposals informed by context analysis and scenario developments. Ensure lessons learned from disaster risk management activities are captured and shared across the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement. Support the preparation of key SRCS disaster risk management documents, including policies, strategies, and standard operating procedures. Monitor and report on resource allocation, project activities, and budget utilization, ensuring project effectiveness and efficiency. Strengthen SRCS’s programme monitoring and evaluation capacity through training and technical support. Actively participate in regional and global coordination meetings relevant to disaster risk management. Experience and Qualifications: Required: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., emergency response, project management, humanitarian studies, international relations) required 5 years of relevant experience in emergency operations, analysing, planning, managing humanitarian programmes and coordination outside of country of residence; Demonstrated field experience across multiple phases of disaster risk management (DRM) in conflict‑affected or post‑crisis settings, with a strong focus on institutional and community‑based preparedness, response, and recovery. Proven experience in cash voucher assistance (CVA), including designing, implementing, and managing CVA programmes to ensure swift and targeted relief for affected communities. Experience with implementing international standards (Sphere and IFRC) for quality assurance and building capacity. Significant project cycle management and programme financial management experience. Excellent communication, coordination, and facilitation skills in culturally and politically sensitive environments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications High proficiency in written and spoken English Preferred: Masters’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., project management, humanitarian Studies, international relations). 7+ years of relevant experience in emergency operations, humanitarian programmes, and coordination. Knowledge of Arabic language. Knowledge about the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement (RCRC) and other cross-cutting thematic areas within the RCRC is preferred. Sudan is a non-family duty station with a paid 7-day R&R break permitted after every 8 weeks in-country. The classification of R&R duty stations is revised yearly and is subject to change. The ideal starting date is 1st September 2026. There is a 3-month probationary period, and the total length of the initial contract is 12 months with the possibility of extension.
