JOB VACANCY | COTTON EXTENSION OFFICEROrganisation: Illovo Sugar (Malawi) plcLocation: Nchalo / Thriving CommunityOrg Unit: Estate Support ServiceReporting To: Agricultural Extension OfficerJob Category: Fixed-Term Contract (FTC)Illovo Sugar (Malawi) plc is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Cotton Extension Officer.KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Mobilise project farmers, including farmer registration and verification.- Facilitate and document the distribution of project inputs on and off the estate.- Organise and supervise land preparation.- Supervise planting, weeding and harvesting activities.- Conduct regular field scouting, data collection and reporting.- Supervise application of inputs, including fertiliser and pesticides.- Provide photo documentation of project activities.- Provide early feedback on potential risks.- Support logistics relating to contractual arrangements at each site.- Oversee and implement demonstration site preparation and maintenance.- Coordinate farmer field days with farmers and other stakeholders.- Promote and comply with Illovo's procedures, policies and guidelines, including requirements relating to SHEQ, Competition Law, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE- Diploma in Agriculture.- Mandatory motorbike licence.- At least 5 years of practical experience in running agricultural trials; experience in cotton is a strong advantage.- At least 5 years of practical experience in agricultural extension work, particularly in rural areas.HOW TO APPLYInterested candidates should submit an application letter, detailed CV, copies of relevant certificates, traceable referees and National ID to:The Human Resource Mill HeadIllovo Sugar (Malawi) plcPrivate Bag 50Blantyre, MalawiOREmail: nchalohr@illovo.co.zaClosing Date: 29 September 2026Only shortlisted candidates will be acknowledged.Illovo Sugar (Malawi) plc is an equal opportunity employer, and women are encouraged to apply.
