Job Description
- This position helps make gospel teachings, resources, or services accessible to all in a simple and affordable way, supporting the mission of the Church. Senior level Travel Coordinator position.
- Coordinate travel arrangements for Church employees, missionaries, General Authorities and other Church representatives. Secure travel reservations via air, rail, rental car and hotel throughout the world.
- Coordinate visa acquisition as needed. Interact regularly with a wide variety of travelers, as well as internal partners.
- Resolve a wide variety of complex travel and/or documentation problems in a responsive and professional manner to ensure a smooth travel experience. This position must keep current and informed of changes and trends in the travel industry.
- May assist and train junior level employees as assigned and take special assignments at the request of the supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan travel itineraries, utilizing the most cost efficient means of travel, advising of options available as well as associated costs.
- Manage the booking of travel reservations for airlines, hotels, trains, automobiles, etc. through the reservations system, internet, or directly with vendors.
- Prepare itineraries, with appropriate detail (restrictions, etc.) and other helpful information for traveler usage.
- Ensure that the appropriate visa is obtained and documents audited for accuracy, if required.
- Follow appropriate accounting guidelines in the invoicing, payment and billing of all transactions.
- Prepare check requisitions for accounting processing.
- Assists supervisor in training and coaching other travel coordinators.
- May be assigned to special projects or team assignments.
- Correspond regularly with consulates, which may include arranging a travelers’ personal visit with them.
- Assist with vendor relationships.
- Coordinate special events (mission president seminars, area council meetings, area reviews, etc.)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years travel industry experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three plus years in Church travel services preferred.
- Professional and clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to resolve difficult travel issues.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft applications. Ability to successfully train, motivate, and lead others.
- Must be able to work at a high rate of efficiency and take on a large workload including special projects.
- Looks for process improvement opportunities and leads change.
- Ability to support after hours phone calls as applicable.
- Role model of professional behavior and excellent performance for Travel Coordinators. Travel University specialist certification (or country equivalent) highly preferred.
