Job description

Working with all stakeholders, the Compliance Officer will identify risks that hinder the achievement of Jhpiego’s objectives and assess the adequacy and recommend appropriate internal control systems to reduce associated risks. With the support and oversight of the Compliance Manager, the Compliance Officer will provide guidance, training, and compliance oversight in the areas of procurement, inventory management, subrecipient monitoring, project compliance and financial management. Application Deadline: September 11, 2026Responsibilities Work with the Compliance Manager to ensure that internal control processes and systems are adequate to minimize risks. Through desk review and spot-checking, verifies that project comply with donor rules and regulations, applicable organizational policies and pertinent U.S. and host country laws. Work with project management to identify project specific risks, analyze, and manage the risks, and ensure risk mitigation plans are implemented. Reviews QuickBooks transactions to ensure correct charging to projects, flag any wrong charges, disallowed costs and non-alignment to the monthly projections/forecasts. Develops an annual compliance review work plan for the project to ensure full compliance coverage. Performs and documents monitoring visits to subrecipients; and work with project management and subgrantees to implement improvements, if required. Develop and maintain Jhpiego’s program for monitoring and oversight of sub-recipients Minimizes fraud through active monitoring and close review of project practices and procedures. Working closely with project teams leads to ensuring a smooth closeout for respective projects. Update and report to the Compliance Manager and project management team on the status of the implementation of compliance recommendations on a regular basis Lead/conduct special investigations and analytical projects, as needed Develop a list of best practices for implementing and improving internal controls and orient and train staff on best practices. Participate as a trainer in country-level compliance training. Ensures compliance with U.S. laws and regulations pertaining to disbarment and anti-terrorist laws Immediately reports gross misconduct or suspected fraudulent activities to the Country Director, Jhpiego’s Chief Financial Officer and Human Resources Director. Any other special projects assigned by the Compliance Manager Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) 7+ years internal or external audit experience International work experience preferably in developing countries with an NGO or grant related entity Willingness to travel internally and throughout the country Knowledge of U.S.G donor rules and regulations Preferred Qualifications Strong interpersonal skills.
