ABOUT THE ONE MARA CARBON PROJECT (OMCP)'

The One Mara Carbon Project is a landscape-scale initiative that supports sustainable rangeland management, biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation, and improved livelihoods for local communities within the Greater Maasai Mara ecosystem. The project works closely with conservancies, landowners, county governments, and other stakeholders to implement regenerative grazing practices, strengthen ecosystem resilience, and generate high-integrity carbon credits under internationally recognized carbon standards.

### JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

### The Communication Officer will

Develop and implement the OMCP communication and visibility strategy.

Prepare communication materials including newsletters, brochures, factsheets, presentations, success stories, press releases, and social media content.

Document project activities, community experiences, field events, achievements, lessons learned, and impacts through high-quality stories, photography, and video.

Manage and regularly update OMCP's website and social media platforms.

Develop compelling human-interest stories highlighting the benefits of improved rangeland management and carbon project activities to communities and conservancies.

Support communication and engagement with conservancy managers, community representatives, partners, government agencies, donors, VVBs, and other stakeholders.

Coordinate media engagement and respond to requests for project information.

Ensure consistent branding and visibility of OMCP across project materials and events.

Support preparation of communication materials for meetings, workshops, conferences, community events and stakeholder forums.

Develop communication products that translate technical carbon, climate and rangelandmanagement information into accessible language for different audiences.

Maintain a well-organized digital archive of project photographs, videos, publications and communication materials.

Support documentation of project monitoring, community engagement and implementation activities for reporting and verification purposes.

Identify opportunities to promote OMCP's achievements through local, national and international media and relevant professional platforms.

Ensure that communication activities respect community rights, consent, cultural sensitivitiesand appropriate safeguarding standards.

Perform any other communication and visibility duties relevant to the project.

### QUALIFICATIONS

### Essential

Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Development Communication, Media Studies, Marketing or a related field.

At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in communication, media, public relations, development projects, or a related field.

Demonstrated experience developing communication strategies and producing communication materials.

Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills in English.

Strong digital communication and social media management skills.

Experience in photography, videography, and basic graphic design is highly desirable.

Strong interpersonal and stakeholder-engagement skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Willingness and ability to undertake regular field travel within the Mara landscape.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:

Climate change, carbon markets or nature-based solutions.

Conservation and natural resource management.

Rangeland management and pastoralist communities.

Community-based conservation or conservancy programmes.

Development and donor-funded projects.

Indigenous/community rights and participatory approaches.

Producing digital stories, short videos, photography and multimedia content.

Working in the Maasai Mara landscape or with community conservancies.
