Driven by a core strategic mandate for research, training and services, the Institute's work now spans a wide spectrum, covering biomedical and ecological sciences, intervention studies, health-systems research, service delivery and policy translation.Position Summary Ifakara Health Institute is seeking a qualified Clinical Officer who will be stationed at Dar es Salaam Office under JaundiceCARE, reporting to Principal Investigator. The Clinical Officer will provide clinical and implementation leadership for the JaundiceCARE project across the three participating hospitals. The Clinical Officer will coordinate the introduction and implementation of innovative neonatal jaundice screening and management interventions, including the Picterus Jaundice Pro application, strengthening health worker capacity, improving quality of care, and generating implementation evidence to inform national scale-up. The Clinical Officer will serve as the primary liaison between the project team and the participating hospitals to ensure consistent implementation of project activities and achievement of the project. The successful candidate shall be required to start immediately. Responsibility: Support the PI in the management, technical supervision, and quality control of the research assistants work. Support hospitals to implement evidence-based neonatal jaundice care management guidelines. Develop relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure the smooth implementation of project activities. Ensure appropriate screening facilitating diagnosis, treatment, referral, and follow-up of newborns with jaundice. Provide orientation in collaboration with GOAL 3 team of the IMPALA spot check functionality, Picterus Jaundice Pro application and clinical training for health workers and research assistants. Coordinate implementation activities across Bugando Medical Centre, Mbeya Zonal Referral Hospital and Mwananyamala Regional Referral Hospital. Develop and monitor detailed implementation plans. Organise regular coordination meetings with PI, Co-PIs and hospital focal persons. Coordinate communication among hospitals and project team partners. Monitor appropriate use of bilirubin screening devices and phototherapy equipment. Conduct regular supervision visits. Ensure compliance with study protocols. Support development of scientific publications and policy briefs. To work professionally and ethically with competence, accountability, and integrity. Undertake any other tasks that the Principal Investigator/Coordinator shall reasonably require from time to time. Perform any other duties as assigned by the PI. Skill : Training and facilitation skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Flexibility in working hours. Willingness to travel to project sites. Qualification Required: Diploma in Clinical Medicine. Valid practising license recognised by the Medical Council of Tanganyika. Experience : Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience after internship. Experience working with hospitals and Ministry of Health programs. Experience in coordinating multi-site health research projects.
