Job description
Job Objective
The position holder will be to supporting students and graduates in developing their career paths through guidance, resources, and employability initiatives. The role involves coordinating internships, mentorships, and job placement opportunities in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing individual career counselling and coaching to students and alumni on career exploration, CV/resume writing, interview preparation, job search strategies, networking, and professional development.
- Developing and delivering career workshops, seminars, and events to enhance students employability skills and workforce readiness.
- Collaborating with academic departments to integrate career development into the curriculum and facilitate guest lectures, industry panels, and experiential learning opportunities.
- Coordinating career fairs, employer information sessions, on-campus recruitment, and other employer engagement activities to connect students and alumni with potential employers.
- Administering and analysing career surveys, assessments, and graduate outcome data to evaluate programmes, track graduate progression, and support data-driven improvements.
- Collaborating with academic advisors, student affairs, alumni relations, and other campus partners to provide holistic career development support to students.
- Developing and implementing innovative career development programmes and workshops to enhance students employability skills and career readiness.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with employers, industry stakeholders, and alumni to facilitate employment, internship, mentorship, and experiential learning opportunities.
- Supporting the implementation and coordination of mentorship, apprenticeship, and work-study programmes.
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor or as captured in your detailed job description.
Qualifications and experience
- A Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Counselling, Psychology, Education, or a related field qualification from a recognised/accredited University in the relevant field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in career counselling, student advising or related roles in a large and reputable organisation.
- Evidence of being a member of a relevant professional body.
- Strong understanding of career advising, job search strategies, and employment trends.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and organise career-related programs, workshops, and events.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in career services programming and initiatives.
