Company: Mwanga Hakika BankPosition: Business Development ManagerDepartment/Area: InnovationLocation: Dar es Salaam, TanzaniaExperience Required: Minimum 3-5 Years JOB PURPOSE To drive sustainable business growth for the bank by originating new customer relationships, growing deposits, loans, and fee-based income, and building strategic partnerships that support the bank's transition from a Tier 2 to a Tier 3 institution. The role holder will identify market opportunities, develop and execute business acquisition strategies, and represent the bank in target markets and industry segments across Tanzania. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES A. Business Growth & Market Penetration Develop and execute annual and multi-year business development plans aligned to the bank's growth strategy. Identify, prospect, and onboard new-to-bank customers across retail, SME, corporate, and institutional segments. Grow the bank's deposit book (CASA and term deposits) and loan portfolio in line with balance sheet growth targets. Drive growth in non-funded income, including trade finance, guarantees, forex, and transactional banking fees. B. Relationship & Partnership Management Build and maintain strategic relationships with corporates, AMOCOS, SACCOs, NGOs, development partners and government agencies. Develop partnerships with mobile network operators, fintechs, and payment service providers. Represent the bank at trade fairs, chambers of commerce, industry forums, and regional business events. C. Market Intelligence & Product Alignment Conduct market research to identify emerging sectors, underserved segments, and competitor positioning within the Tanzanian banking industry. Work with Product Development, Credit, and Marketing teams to tailor products/pricing to target segments, e.g. agribusiness, trade, manufacturing, women- and youth-owned enterprises. Provide regular market intelligence reports and feedback to senior management to inform strategic decision-making. D. Financial Performance & Reporting Own and deliver against annual revenue, deposit mobilization, and asset growth targets, with KPIs cascaded from the bank's Tier 3 roadmap. Prepare periodic business development performance reports, pipeline trackers, and forecasts for executive management and the Board. Monitor portfolio quality of acquired business in liaison with Credit and Risk to ensure sustainable, low-NPL growth. E. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Coordination Lead, coach, and manage performance of Business Development Officers/Relationship Officers, if applicable. Coordinate cross-functionally with Credit, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Marketing to ensure smooth onboarding and service delivery for new business. Champion a customer-centric, growth-oriented culture within the team. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs) Deposit Growth: Net new deposits mobilized (TZS) vs. target. Loan Book Growth: New disbursed facilities (TZS) vs. target. New Customer Acquisition: Number of new-to-bank accounts/relationships onboarded. Partnership Development: Number of strategic partnerships/MOUs signed. Pipeline Management: Conversion rate of prospects to onboarded clients. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Education Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Banking & Finance, Economics, Marketing, or related field. Experience in fintech, telecommunications, or banking. Experience Minimum 3-5 years' experience in banking, with at least 3 years in business development, relationship management, or banking. Proven track record of meeting/exceeding targets. Experience working in a growth-stage or scaling financial institution is highly desirable. Prior exposure to SME, corporate, or institutional banking segments in the Tanzanian or East African market.
