ASSISTANT ENGINEER X1
Purpose of the Job
Reporting to the Implementation Engineer – Civil, the job holder is responsible for supervising construction programs for both in-house and contracted works. These will include water networks, water treatment works and Sewer networks.
Main accountabilities
- Ensure Contractor has regularly approved program of works including all critical working drawings, constantly monitoring project cost, quality and time.
- Check that contractor has adequate levels of deployment of staff, plant and equipment on site for speedy implementation of the works and report to Superiors all eventualities that require action.
- Inspect/check adherence to contract provisions by contractors and consultants.
- Submit monthly progress update complete with labour, plant and equipment returns for in-house supervised works.
- Prepare detailed measurement sheets for quantities done on site to be used for payments.
- Overseeing quality control, health and safety matters on site.
- Ensuring that all materials used and work performed are as per specifications.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction engineering
- Minimum 3 Years post qualification experience in a similar role
- Member EIZ
- Experience in Water and sanitation infrastructure planning design and implementation
- Experience in project supervision and contract management
- Knowledge in engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Knowledge in GIS and engineering software
- Ability to drive a manual motor vehicle
