About the Company and Role

Pilatus Zambia is a Zambian business operating within the Pilatus Group, with a focus on delivering professional and reliable services to its clients. As part of its continued operations, Pilatus Zambia is seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented, and reliable Accounts Assistant to support the Finance & Accounts team with day-to-day accounting and administrative functions.

The successful candidate will assist with maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, reconciliations, invoicing, and general accounting duties. The ideal candidate should have practical experience using Sage Pastel, strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

Process and accurately record financial transactions in the accounting system.

Prepare and process invoices, receipts, payments, and other accounting documents.
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
Perform bank and other account reconciliations.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and supporting documentation.
Assist with preparation of financial reports and schedules.
Follow up on outstanding customer accounts and payments where required.
Assist with supplier statement reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
Maintain proper filing and organisation of financial documents.
Assist with monthly and year-end financial close processes.
Support the Chief Financial Officer with audits and provision of requested documentation.
Ensure accounting transactions are properly authorised and supported.
Assist with cashbook and petty cash management.
Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
Handle confidential financial information with discretion.
Perform other finance and administrative duties as assign

Qualifications & experience

Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
At least 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience.
Practical experience using Sage Pastel is required.
Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Knowledge of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping procedures.
Experience with reconciliations, invoicing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable will be an advantage.

Personal attributes

Knowledge of Zambian accounting and statutory requirements.

Familiarity with VAT, PAYE, NAPSA, and other relevant statutory accounting requirements.
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy.
Previous experience in a car dealership or similarly structured business environment would be an advantage.

Compensation

The incumbent will receive a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
