Founded in 2011 by former Peace Corps Volunteer Liz Fanning, the organization adapts the Peace Corps model by recruiting university-educated African youth to live and serve in high-poverty rural communities for up to one year. Job Summary: CorpsAfrica/Uganda is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to support its operations. The Accountant will be responsible for day-to-day financial management, bookkeeping, reporting, and compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience managing finances for NGOs in Uganda, strong technical accounting skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting a diverse and dynamic team. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and smooth financial operations of the CorpsAfrica/Uganda office. Key

### Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Management & Bookkeeping Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with CorpsAfrica policies and Uganda accounting standards. Review payment requests for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with policies and donor agreements. Process payments (petty cash, bank transfers, checks) and ensure proper documentation. Record all financial transactions in the accounting system (e.g., QuickBooks) with appropriate coding. Reconcile bank and petty cash accounts monthly, promptly flagging any discrepancies. Maintain organized electronic and hard-copy financial files for audit readiness. Budgeting, Reporting & Compliance Support preparation of monthly financial reports for management and HQ Finance. Track project and grant expenditures and alert management of variances or potential issues. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and donor financial reports. Ensure all financial activities comply with Rwanda regulations, CorpsAfrica internal controls, and donor requirements. Prepare statutory filings such as PAYE, RSSB, VAT, and other obligations on time. Procurement & Asset Management Support procurement processes ensuring compliance with the Procurement Policy(quotations, evaluation, documentation). Maintain the Uganda office asset register and inventory records; support periodic physical verification. Ensure vendors are paid on time and maintain the vendor database. Support to Staff & Volunteers Provide guidance on financial policies, allowable costs, and documentation requirements. Support volunteers with stipends and reimbursements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Support orientation of new staff and volunteers on financial processes. Audit & Internal Controls Prepare required documentation for internal and external audits. Support implementation of auditor recommendations. Identify financial risks or gaps in internal control and propose solutions. Other

### Skills

and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field. At least 3–5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in NGOs or donor-funded programs. Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks strongly preferred). Strong knowledge of Uganda tax laws, statutory requirements, and compliance processes. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail, accuracy, and integrity in handling financial information. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Fluency in English and a local language required; French is an added advantage.
