OVERVIEWCentre for Community Empowerment Initiatives (www.cceimw.org) is a legally registered non-profit Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) and a member of the Council for Non-Governmental Organisations in Malawi (CONGOMA). CCEI is also licensed to operate as an NGO by the NGO Regulatory Authority (NGORA). The organisation's broader goals include enhancing income, food and nutrition security, creating employment, improving water and sanitation, and supporting climate change mitigation and adaptation and environmental conservation through accessible, low-cost solutions.CCEI is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians to fill a vacant position of an Accountant (Part Time or Full time) tenable at its office in Luwinga, Mzuzu.Application Deadline: Friday, 11th September 2026POSITION: ACCOUNTANTJOB TYPE: Part Time or Full TimeKEY REQUIREMENTSAcademic Qualification:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related courses.Graduated not more than 3 years.With considerable experience.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESMaintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks, ensuring proper coding and allocation of transactions to projects, grants, activities, and budget lines.Prepare periodic financial statements, management accounts, and donor financial reports in compliance with donor requirements, accounting standards, and organisational policies.Monitor project and organisational expenditure against approved budgets, conduct budget-versus-actual analysis, and support budgeting, forecasting, and budget revisions.Manage cash and bank transactions, including bank reconciliations, cash-flow monitoring, staff/project advances, and timely retirement of outstanding advances.Review and process payments, invoices, receipts, and supporting documentation, ensuring proper authorisation, accuracy, and compliance with internal and donor requirements.Ensure compliance with donor regulations, statutory requirements, and internal financial controls, while maintaining proper records for internal and external audits.Provide financial support and guidance to programme teams on budgeting, expenditure, grant compliance, and financial procedures, and maintain accurate records of organisational and donor-funded assets.Perform payroll and other statutory financial obligations, prepare financial analyses to support management decision-making, and undertake other duties as assigned.HOW TO APPLYInterested candidates should submit their applications and Curriculum Vitae (CV) that clearly stipulates the date of birth of the applicant, names of three traceable referees and copies of academic and professional certificates to:The Executive DirectorCentre for Community Empowerment InitiativesP.O.
