> Target hotel jobs in Kenya with role-specific CV evidence, guest-service examples, shift handover practice and checks for genuine vacancies.

Hotel job searches in Kenya cover very different departments. Front office, housekeeping, food service and engineering each need different evidence. A CV headed only “any hotel position” makes that evidence difficult to find. Start by choosing the advertised role that best matches your experience, then use this guide to prepare a focused application.

### Confirm the hotel and the hiring route

Find the hotel's official employer or brand recruitment page and check the property, country, reference and closing instructions. Marriott's official search includes a Kenya filter, but a result for one department does not mean every hotel department is hiring. A global careers page is a verification starting point, not a promise of a local opening.

Record whether the vacancy is with the hotel operator, a franchise employer or a contractor. Do not transfer salary, accommodation or benefit claims from another property. Recheck the advert immediately before sending personal documents, especially when the first version came from a forwarded screenshot.

### Front-office evidence

Describe experience with guest enquiries, accurate records, appointment or reservation coordination and handovers. If you have not used a property-management system, do not list one merely because the advert mentions it. Explain transferable experience from reception or customer service and distinguish it from direct hotel experience.

Prepare a fictional shift-handover note containing an unresolved request, the action already taken, who owns the next step and when it should be reviewed. Keep guest names and contact details fictional. This small exercise demonstrates clarity and continuity without exposing a real hotel's records.

### Housekeeping evidence

For housekeeping, describe following an assigned checklist, reporting defects and coordinating work with a supervisor. State the setting accurately: hotel, office, hospital or private home. Do not invent rooms-per-shift figures; where you have reliable numbers, explain the context rather than treating speed as the only measure of performance.

A useful interview example concerns discovering a maintenance issue during routine work. Explain how you reported it, kept your supervisor informed and avoided claiming a repair beyond your responsibility. Follow employer training for cleaning materials and safety; a job-search article is not an operating procedure.

### Make service examples specific

Use a simple sequence: request, action, communication and outcome. A strong example could show how you clarified an incorrect booking detail and passed a corrected record to the responsible colleague. Do not reveal guest identities or suggest that you promised refunds outside your authority.

In a school or volunteer setting, explain comparable experience with reception desks, event attendance or stock checklists. Label it accurately and connect it to one requirement in the advert. Entry-level evidence is useful when its limits are clear.

### Final application check

Put the targeted department in your profile and cover-letter opening. State shift availability truthfully, check contact details and use the requested file format. Keep any food-service qualifications or other certificates relevant to the actual role. Before an interview, practise a polite response to a dissatisfied guest and explain when you would involve a supervisor rather than making an unsupported promise.
